      <image:caption>Developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s to assist dancers and performers, the Pilates Method is a unique system of strengthening and stretching movements, that in combination with control and body awareness, helps to create an ideal mind and body connection - probably even more necessary and relevant today than it was back then. Working directly with the body’s deepest muscles, to create a strong centre or core, but without the pain associated with conventional exercise, Pilates strengthens and tones muscles and improves posture, flexibility, and balance. Structured around the spine, the muscles identified as ’The Powerhouse’ are instrumental in all Pilates movements, maintaining both good alignment and posture. Once taught, this muscular control can be applied to any physical function – creating a connection between Pilates and one’s day to day activities.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Jane has been teaching with Studio Equipment since 2000. She opened her own equipped studio in 2019. The studio uses the finest Pilates equipment. Apparatus built according to the original designs of Joseph H. Pilates. This beautiful space, sometimes described by clients as ‘a sanctuary’, is located in the centre of Wilmslow and is where Jane also teaches her mat classes.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Whether working on the Reformer, Cadillac, Tower units, Ladder Barrel or Wanda Chair, the equipment encourages correct positioning as well as providing the tools to strengthen the Powerhouse or core, through the resistance of the springs. The springs amplify the deep muscular support, resulting in a clearer understanding of the work, its benefits and more importantly, noticeable progress after each lesson. Therefore, working on the Equipment is the most beneficial form of Pilates because the positive effects are magnified, benefiting people from all backgrounds, from top athletes enhancing their craft to those seeking relief from aches and pains.</image:caption>
